Nicole Correri, M. Ed. the preeminent female Shia speaker in North America, considers herself a student of Islam and a devotee of the Ahl al-Bayt (as). Before graduating with Honors and receiving a M. Ed. in Counseling from GMU, she received her B.A. in Psychology, Minor in Early Childhood Education from GWU, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She is a member of numerous academic honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa. Sr. Nicole completed a year and half of doctoral course work in Clinical Psychology again at GWU. Since her conversion to Islam in 1994, Sr. Nicole has been an ardent student of Islam as well as a speaker, imparting her knowledge and insights through an impressive body of work consisting of lectures, seminars, and broadcast shows. She is invited to talk in mosques, Islamic camps, and Islamic conferences, benefitting audiences in North America and around the world. She has also been a prominent speaker at the UMAA convention since 2009.
Sr. Nicole attempts to bring a deeper understanding of Islam to her audience, with a particular emphasis on practical and meaningful connection to one’s spiritual life. She has also taken the opportunity to introduce Islam to students in private school, university, and community college, as well as members of local churches.
Sr. Nicole also does consulting work in the field of Waldorf Education through her business entity, Ensaniyaat – Achieving Potential LLC. In March 2012, she began Howza classes online with the Al-Qaem Institute and in June 2012 completed the first level Arabic Intensive with Fawakih Institute, continuing with second level Tajwid and Arabic courses in 2013. She recently edited Dr. Sayed Ammar Nakshawani’s book, The Ten Granted Paradise, released by UMAA in May, 2014. She has also written and hosted a four part series on the women of the Ahl al-Bayt with Imam Hussein TV, and continues her endeavors to enlighten people about Shia Islam using various social and media platforms.
